Tralee Art Group (TAG) is a community based group of visual artists. We believe strongly that it is important to develop art in the community and encourage new artists of all ages.

Located in Baile Mhuire Day Centre, Tralee, we provide a meeting point for artists; arrange various events, exhibitions, painting/sketching workshops and outings for our members. From time to time, the group has benefited from mentorship by prominent artists including Rebekah Wall, Lisa Fingleton and Rebecca Carroll.

Today, TAG counts about 50 members, from diverse backgrounds and nationalities, who work on all types of media and art forms. We welcome new members; please feel free to drop us a line through our contact page.

History

Founded in 1979, Tralee Art Group’s vision was to foster an interest in visual art in Tralee and its environs.
Our first exhibition, over 40 years ago, was held in the Old Town Hall with the help of Monsignor Pat Ahern, founder member of Siamsa Tire National Folk Theatre, Tralee.
Early members included professional artists, Sirah Larkin, Mary Flynn, Jeremy Tindale, Jane Savage, Mary Delmage, Ronnie Moore, Jane Hilliard and Elaine Reardon who all worked alongside enthusiastic amateurs.
One member, Helen Shanahan, opened the Bin Ban Gallery whis is now located on the outskirts of Tralee (Fenit Side). Another member, founder of the Wellspring Gallery, Louise O’Donnell, is the daughter of Maeve O’Donnell another former member of TAG.
